Siku is a discrete element sea ice model that is applicable for regional and global simulations. The elements are scaleable such that local and global processes can be simulated in the same model run. For example resolution can be increased where complex geometry plays an important role in the ice stress field, such as along coastal boundaries. The model is specifically designed for problems investigating ice mechanics and short term forecasts of ice drift, deformation and pressure.
It is an open source code available at bitbucket .
We welcome people using Siku to contact the developer, Anton Kulchitsky, or Jenny Hutchings for updates on model developments and to participate in team discussions.
